What do I do at CAPS?

Hello! I'm Kirsten and I'm an intern at CAPS. I am currently obtaining my master's in Clinical Mental Health Counseling here at Liberty University. I also did my undergrad degree here at Liberty and hold my bachelor's degree in Elementary and Special Education. I am working under supervision to complete intake interviews and work with clients in counseling.

What is it like to work with me?

My goal is to create a space where clients are able to feel heard and seen in their unique stories. I strive to implement theories, tools and strategies to help clients begin their healing journey and reveal hope in their lives. I enjoy helping students work through a variety of different issues such as anxiety, depression, family dynamics, relational issues, life transitions, and faith-based issues. I have developed a passion working with college students and young women through my previous experience as an outpatient counseling intern at a local agency as well as my experience as a community group leader during my time as an undergraduate student at Liberty.

What do I do outside of CAPS?

In addition to working at CAPS I also work for the School of Education at Liberty as an administrative graduate assistant. When I'm not studying or working you can find me running, hiking, watching movies, or spending time with friends. I also love learning new things and enjoy reading, journaling, getting the daily wordle and geography games. Additionally, I continually strive to grow my knowledge of the Lord through reading my bible, attending church and spending time with my Bible study group.
