Couples Counseling
We offer conjoint counseling for couples who are dating, engaged, or married. Only one member needs to be an active Liberty University (LU) student and sessions are free of charge. This form of counseling is different from individual therapy because the relationship is the focus rather than one person.
To access couples counseling for the first time, feel free to email one of our specialized staff members below. You can also call the CAPS front desk to ask about availability or visit our office during walk-in hours to schedule an appointment:
- Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday: 9 a.m. – 3 p.m.
- Wednesday and Friday: 12 p.m. – 3 p.m.

What to Expect
During your initial appointment, you will be asked several questions that will help us determine the most appropriate care for you. This may involve the use of assessments like Prepare-Enrich for premarital counseling or the Gottman Institute Questionnaire for married couples. Please note there may be a small fee to purchase assessments for those who wish to utilize these helpful instruments. A copy of the results can then be provided to the couple and discussed in session as part of the counseling process.
For more information about our services, please view our Mental Health Services Policy Guidelines for Students.
