Counselor
What do I do at Counseling & Psychological Services?
I completed my Master of Arts in Professional Counseling in 2018, and since then, I have become a Licensed Professional Counselor. My role is to provide individual and group counseling services to Liberty University students. I have several years of therapeutic experience working with children, adolescents and adults in community-based programs. Since joining Student Counseling Services, I have greatly enjoyed working with students at Liberty and helping clients navigate the unique obstacles this stage of life presents.
What’s it like to work with me?
My goal is to create a relaxed, non-judgmental environment where clients feel comfortable sharing their stories. I consider it an honor to be invited into the hurts and suffering of others and see counseling as a tool that helps us build a healthy framework for finding joy in the midst of the pain we endure. My hope is that each student I work with is able to build a healthy identity rooted in who God says they are and can ultimately find value in the obstacles and hardships we face in life. My interest is helping students navigate issues related to depression, anxiety, spiritual identity, relational dynamics, and attachment. I utilize Cognitive Behavioral Therapy as well as concepts drawn from narrative and existential-based therapeutic approaches.
What do I do outside of Counseling & Psychological Services?
When I am not at CAPS, I enjoy hiking and getting to experience the beautiful trails we have access to in and around Lynchburg. If I am traveling, I am either sitting on a beach or hiking and enjoying the views in one of America’s amazing national parks. In addition to hiking and exercise, I enjoy reading and I am an avid consumer of shows and movies that will make me laugh. I am blessed with an amazing wife and community of friends who make these hobbies, and life in general, much more meaningful.
