Counselor
What do I do at CAPS?
I am a Licensed Professional Counselor at CAPS. I have experience working as a professional school counselor and have also worked in an outpatient private practice setting. I am excited to utilize my past experiences to now serve the students at LU, my alma mater! I currently see students for individual counseling, I co-lead an expressive arts group and serve on the trauma team.
What is it like to work with me?
I use a variety of therapeutic techniques and approaches in my counseling, but I ultimately hope that my clients will find working with me to be inviting, warm, and compassionate. My personal motto for counseling is "one life touching another" as I enjoy sitting with others in their stories. I have a passion for helping people explore and better understand their feelings and experiences in order to assist them in navigating through the difficulties of life within the safety of the therapeutic relationship. I believe in the transformational power that comes through the supportive nature of the counselor-client relationship in bringing healing from various hardships. My hope is that by partnering together through counseling you will feel seen, understood, and empowered to face and overcome the challenges in your life from a renewed standpoint.
What do I do outside of CAPS?
Outside of CAPS, I enjoy spending time with friends and family. I like to explore the fun and exciting events happening in/around the Lynchburg area as well as taking trips to explore new cities. I enjoy reading, going for walks and being outside in nature, games nights, and spending quality time with loved ones over a cup of tea at a cozy coffee shop. I am also involved in serving with the kids ministry at my local church and doing ministry work overseas in Uganda.
