What do I do at CAPS?
Hi! My name is Alex, and I am an Intern Counselor at CAPS and I am currently in my last year of the Clinical Mental Health Program. I am passionate about working with students who might be struggling with depression, anxiety, and/or suicidal thoughts. A desire of mine is to help each student grow in their understanding of trauma and past/current experiences in life and how they shape personal identity. My role is to assist students in the exploration of understanding themselves deeper and encouraging development in whatever area a student may need.
What is it like to work with me?
I desire to create a positive and non-judgmental atmosphere that is conducive to student growth. Each student brings something special to the counseling room and my goal is to provide a safe space for each student to share their stories or what may be important to them. I hope that entering the counseling room can be a fresh wind for students who can leave feeling hopeful and encouraged during whatever they may be facing.
What do I do outside of CAPS?
When I am not in the office, I am typically spending time with family or friends, hanging out outside, watching a movie, or going for a run. Spending time outside is always one of the best ways I find to recharge!
